How about HD? Or a new RPG Maker with HD support. Beautiful tool but the resolutions are sooooooooooooooo outdated :/

    • Archeia_Nessiah October 18, 2013, 1:10 am

An HD add-on for ace will take a while. RM can’t handle anything that is above 800×600 and it would require a modification of its Tile functions.

      • kayz October 18, 2013, 6:04 am

Maybe something to upscall from the actual resolution to “HD” (with filter like super-eagle or simply bilinear etc) would be a good compromise, it doesn’t need conceptual modifications in RM, more something like a GPU support. Like a “post-operation”.

        Thanks for this update.

    • betzelel October 18, 2013, 6:04 am

yes totally! that and export for steamOS. having HDTV resolution should be their top priority. i think that is the main thing holding back a great tool.

    Yeah! 0/

    Please add Brazilian portuguese, too!

    Will Steam version update itself?

  • alabaster October 17, 2013, 4:48 pm

What does the “Star Passability Fix” do? Is there more detail?

    • Archeia_Nessiah October 18, 2013, 1:07 am

The fix checks if the tile is a star before checking passability. If the tile is a star and it is passable, it then checks the tile UNDER it. If not, it returns false as always. This prevents everything that is a star tile from being passable. Here’s an image that explains the bug. http://i.imgur.com/uGbvD.png

Just out of curiosity what was fixed with the Star Passability. I just tried setting passability settings on the new version after downloading it but it seems to just ignore them when I test it. Also if there is somewhere I could read more details about the changes that would be awesome.

    • Archeia_Nessiah October 18, 2013, 1:05 am

If you edited it with your old project, with outdated list of scripts, then the changes won’t apply.

      • DancingDrake October 22, 2013, 1:24 am

Thanks Archeia that was the problem in the end. :)

    Good to see those news!

I have a steam version, and until now doesn’t appear any update to be downloadable, is only with me, or steam versions isn’t updated yet?

    • Nick Palmer October 17, 2013, 10:17 pm

I think on the Steam version you have to go and make sure you aren’t opted into any of the betas.

      • Traveling Bard October 18, 2013, 7:35 am

Before I could download the new update I had to opt out of the cloudbeta beta. The download immediately started after that.

    • Headmaster October 18, 2013, 5:30 pm

Works fine with me now, thank you both! \o/

  • Liak October 19, 2013, 1:36 pm

I haven’t checked in the software itself, but if the “patchlog” above is complete, why haven’t you fixed all of these bugs, but only a few of them? I mean, the fixes are already there, right? Why not include them? :)

  • Michael Ponder Jr October 19, 2013, 6:31 pm

To me it’s already HD…. the only thing i dislike is the screen size.
At least add a wide screen option… that could help a great deal.

Glad to see it gets updates though.

There’s a bug with the Game_Picture script; one of the lines to do with deleting pictures is missing.

    • chaos17 October 30, 2013, 12:24 am

What ? What line and where ? Wcan you tell me where please ?

      • Wiimeiser November 29, 2013, 12:49 am

The ‘@origin = 0′ is missing from the script, it should be below ‘@name = “”‘, on line 117. This means if you erase a picture where the origin wasn’t 0,0 the game will crash.

  • Jay_NOLA October 22, 2013, 6:52 am

Do we need to update the RTP too?

  • Jaderson Souza November 4, 2013, 8:04 pm

I want to help you translating to brazilian portuguese!

    • Nick Palmer November 5, 2013, 7:53 am

I’m not sure if we are doing a separate BR version, but if you would like to offer your services, you can email community@rpgmakerweb.com, and I’ll forward it to the relevant people.

  • Rafael_Sol_Maker November 8, 2013, 9:54 am

    Hello, there!

Nice news to hear, finally multilanguage support included. Oh, wait…!

When the Portuguese translation will be done or will be ready?

I actually have all the translated texts here, I guess if this would be useful.

Hope to see the version in my native language soon!

    See ya!

I wrote on FB a while back when the update was released and asked how to switch back to English language on a German system. The moderator told me to rename the DLL files for now, but apparently there is some error with missing strings or strings that don’t show up if we use the “hack” with the renamed dll. For example, when I rename the English DLL and start the editor, then edit some dialog that uses a “Set Move Route” entry, the (wait) in the brackets is missing and it says “unknown error”. Some other strings are missing too like the “Common Event” title in the item features and such. Is there any way to get a “correct” English version back on my German computer?

    • Nick Palmer November 29, 2013, 10:13 am

I’m going to try and get some of this stuff fixed.

      • Cliff November 29, 2013, 10:44 am

        Thanks a lot Nick! =)

  • Mortis December 6, 2013, 5:52 am

How can i change language? I have an spanish instalation of Windows and RPG Maker is in english, and no option to change it.

    • Nick Palmer December 10, 2013, 10:58 am

Have you updated to the latest version you can download as a trial already? Also are you using Steam or the Non-Steam version?

  • Francisco Fernando January 22, 2014, 8:27 am

Rpg maker I downloaded from the link here, but it is still in English, do not know how to change into Spanish. What should I do?

    • Nick Palmer January 24, 2014, 3:09 pm

It should autoset to whichever region your PC is set to. What is your PC set to?

      • Francisco Fernando January 26, 2014, 8:24 am

sorry for my bad English, use google translator to contact.
I’m from Spain, and I would put it in Spanish. The pc is Spanish, Windows 8.1. No I have it on steam. I have downloaded from the link in this post.

        • Nick Palmer January 26, 2014, 9:53 pm

Hmm… can you tell me a bit more about your computer?

          • Francisco Fernando January 27, 2014, 4:27 pm

Would not know what else to say. It’s an Asus notebook. Windows 8.1 (not pro). The version of RPG Maker VX RPG Maker AVE is purchased through the Web (not steam).
The language of the computer and keyboard are Spanish (Spain). Computer Region: Spain. Processor Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.40GHz
            8192MB RAM
            Intel HD Graphics 4000

Already uninstalled and installed again, I tried my other laptop (like this) if I were a virus or something, but does the same, only comes in English.
Although I have found a way to change the language to Spanish. Eliminating RPGVXAceENU.dll file.

RPGVXAceESP.dll renaming the file to RPGVXAceENU.dll makes the RPG Maker can open in Spanish. Although it is a temporary measure, is the only way that I have that out in Spanish.

          • Francisco Fernando January 27, 2014, 4:28 pm

            “RPG Maker VX ACE ”
            *Ace (No Ave)

            sorry for the misspelled part.
